Argent Data Consolidator

The Argent Data Consolidator is the world's leading data consolidation product, collecting, scanning, and consolidating critical data from across the world-wide enterprise into centralized SQL Server and/or ODBC databases, regardless of the hardware platform. The Argent Data Consolidator can process data residing on Windows 200x, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, SCO, Linux, Novell, as well as all legacy mainframes. Scalability

Up to one million servers' data can be consolidated with the Argent Data Consolidator. The Argent Data Consolidator has a true N-tier architecture, supporting from the smallest to the largest networks. Agents may be installed or all consolidation can be done without the need to install any agents on the production servers; there is no difference in the price. All common hardware platforms, such as Windows 200x, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, SCO, Linux, Novell, as well as all legacy mainframes are supported.

Robust Design

Complete fault tolerance is engineered into the Argent Data Consolidator to handle slow or erratic networks and hardware failures. Engines can be replicated so if one server fails or falls off the network, another server immediately takes over the collecting, scanning, and consolidating of data. Load balancing is provided to handle large amounts of data collection (in excess of 10 gigabytes per day).

Automation

The Argent Data Consolidator has a built-in scheduler in order to optimize resource consumption. Customers can schedule data consolidation in real-time, or only during the evenings, on the weekends, or at night, when network load is minimal.

Argent Defender

The Argent Defender offers stress testing, capacity planning and performance monitoring for Intranet and web applications. The Argent Defender identifies reliability and load-bearing issues with web and Intranet applications prior to full deployment. You are faced with a daunting task in today's tight economy -- deliver web and intranet applications in a timely manner and under budget, and, at the same time, deliver a reliable solution. Users will not understand when performance and reliability decreases. You need to ensure that these applications are fully tested and analyzed prior to deployment. Yet how can you emulate hundreds, if not thousands, of end users? The Argent Defender is a stress testing and analysis solution that predicts the reliability and load bearing capabilities of web sites and intranet applications. The Argent Defender alerts you if the web site or intranet application slows below pre-defined thresholds. Stress testing, capacity planning and performance monitoring -- all in one solution.

How The Argent Defender Works

The first phase of using the Argent Defender is to record a session. This session acts as the basic template that is used to drive the second phase, which is the actual stress testing of the web site or intranet application. Any number of sessions can be recorded with the Argent Defender. In the second test phase, between one and n regional agents load the web site or intranet application with complete transactions. Individual transactions vary in the number of screens, and the pauses between screens. The Argent Defender has the concept of personalities, whereby the rate at which information is entered on the screens can be varied, to precisely mimic different types of users. The Argent Defender tests a web site or intranet application with an unlimited number of real transactions from one or more agents. These agents can be located in the same server room, or can be located across the world. The test is coordinated and monitored from a central control server that prepares and manages the agents. The Argent Defender is essential for effective capacity planning. Once a web site or intranet application is put into full production, the Argent Defender can be used in its second role, that of monitoring the on-going performance of the web site or intranet application. In this role, instead of stress testing the pre-production web site or intranet application with thousands of complete transactions every minute, one or two transactions are executed per minute and the page-to-page, as well as the overall response times are monitored. If any variable exceeds your pre-defined thresholds, alerts are executed using Argent's powerful monitoring and alerting backbone, the Argent Guardian. Thus the full power of the Argent Guardian's alerting capabilities ensures all production web sites and intranet applications meet your customer's Service Level Agreement requirements.

Argent Exchange Monitor

The Argent Exchange Monitor is the world's most comprehensive monitoring solution for Exchange environments. Global Directory

Argent Global Directory is an automated software inventory control system. It is implemented as a value-added product to the Argent Monitoring Products. Argent Global Directory is a comprehensive solution, maintaining software inventory for large-scale distributed networks. Both the control information and network scanning results are stored in a SQL backend with good system performance and easy accessibility for reporting. Working in conjunction with the existing Argent Monitoring Products, it can easily accomplish the automated discovery and monitoring of servers and devices and installed applications across the entire enterprise.

Argent Global Directory - Central Location

This is the mother service. It is installed on the same machine as the Argent Console Main Engine, sharing the same SQL database. This service is responsible for collecting the results of the network scanning from Site Server(s) and dynamically regenerating the Master Catalog and application-based Monitoring Groups.

Argent Global Directory - Site Server

This is the daughter service that can be installed either on the same machine as the mother service or on a server on the network. The Site Server receives the control information from the mother service, provides the scheduled network scanning, and sends back the scanning results to the mother service.

Argent Global Directory - GUI

The GUI component is installed as a snap-in of the Argent Management Console. It allows users to install or de-install Site Servers, maintains the control information, reviews the discovered servers and devices and generates various reports.

Argent Global Directory - Central Location can link up with as many Site Servers as needed. Typically each network segment will have one Site Server installed so that network information can be collected locally.
